Shiv Sena’s Vishakha Raut has been chosen as the party’s representative in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, the official announcement for the decision will be carried out on April 10. Thus, despite being nominated, the post will remain vacant until the announcement is made in the house.

The former house leader of BMC, Yashwant Jadhav has been unanimously selected as the chairman of the standing committee, making the post of the house leader empty and there were three contenders contesting for the same post. However, Shiv Sena corporator  — Vishakha Raut — from Dadar won the election and the party chose her as the municipal group leader.

Earlier on March 4, a special meeting was organised to announce the name of the house leader. However, the declaration was not made in the house but in front of the media, during a press conference. The official announcement will be made on April 10.

The Executive Chief of the Municipal corporation received the letter from Shiv Sena in the morning and the letter had the name of Vishakha Raut as the house leader. However, he did not announce the same in the house but in the press conference. Thus, the questions are being raised over this issue.

Even after Vishakha Raut’s win in the elections as the group leader of the municipal party, Shiv Sena couldn’t appoint her officially for the post of house leader and the post will remain empty until April 10. In history, the chair of the house has never been vacant, this has happened for the first time.
