In a welcoming news for Mumbaikars, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced that a big lottery of about 5,000 houses will be held in Mumbai before Diwali.

In the budget for 2025-2026, MHADA has set a target of constructing 19,497 houses in the state through the regional boards of MHADA Mumbai, Pune, Konkan, Nashik, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur in a year.

Out of this, 5199 houses will be constructed in Mumbai and its suburbs, informed Sanjeev Jaiswal. This will give the opportunity to the vulnerable (EWS), low income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG) and high income group (HIG) to get affordable houses.

Jaiswal made a big announcement that some houses in the BDD Chawl redevelopment will be allotted in May. With this, the resettled residents of BDD Chawl will also soon get the keys to their houses. The resettled residents of BDD Chawl will be given the keys to their houses in May 2025. This will mark a significant milestone in this historic project.

Due to Mumbai’s sky-high real estate prices, MHADA homes are in high demand. For each unit, the Mumbai Board receives more than 40 applications on average. Earlier this year, MHADA received 1.29 lakh online registrations for a lottery of 2,030 homes.
