According to reports, flats obtained by the Maharashtra government under its discretionary quota which have not been disbursed will now be handed over to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) for sale.

Moreover, the cabinet approved of an array of discussions on development on land under the erstwhile Urban Land Ceiling Act where the developers have not paid the government the dues.

This comes after a PIL was submitted in the Bombay high court due to which the government had stayed all such disbursements. As a result, all of these flats will now be handed over to MHADA. However, if the developer wants to take over the flat, the developer would need to pay a 10 per cent premium or the market value, whichever is higher.

On the other hand, the MHADA plans to set up a 1,000 beds COVID-19 new makeshift hospital in Somaiya Medical College's open ground in Ghatkopar. Moreover, it has floated an expression of interest (EOI) inviting agencies to set up the Jumbo hospital for coronavirus patients recently. The interested agencies could submit bids up till April 28.

Furthermore, the hospital for coronavirus cases in Somaya ground will also have 200 Intensive care unit (ICU) beds which will be useful for the treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients.
