Mumbaikars brace up for milk shortage as the Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha has threatened to stop the milk supply in Thane and Mumbai.

Dr Ajit Nawale, General Secretary of the Maharashtra Rajya Kisan Sabha told Mumbai Live that if the Dairy Development Ministry does not follow the state government’s order of increasing the milk price to ₹27, then the farmers who supply milk will stall the same.

Will distribute free milk

In order to register their anger, the farmers have decided to distribute free milk to BJP MLAs-MPs and corporators between May 3, 2018, and May 9, 2018, across the state.

As per Nawale, the milk that is distributed across the state, 1.25 Cr litre comes from the rural area. However, due to the less price, farmers were facing losses. Owing to which, they took to the streets and protested against the low price. The state government then took the cognizance of protest and decided to increase the milk rates to ₹27. The Dairy Development Ministry was given the order as well but they failed to implement it, said Nawale.
