Mira-Bhayandar records more than 2,000 coronavirus cases in a month

Until May 26, 2020, Mira Bhayandar has 541 patients who tested positive for COVID-19. However, as of June 24, 2,573 patients have tested positive for Coronavirus, out of which 1,450 patients have been discharged.

While the number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai is under control across some parts, the nearby area of Mira Bhayandar has seen an increase in the cases over the last few weeks. A steady increase in the number of cases has been witnessed post-May 14, 2020, and the number as in exponentially increased post-June 1, 2020.

As per reports, Mira Bhayandar has recorded more than 2,000 cases in the one month between May 26 to June 24, 2020. Besides that, the number of patients who died due to coronavirus infection has also increased exponentially.

Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) recently updated the data on the website which states that so far 2,573 patients have tested positive for coronavirus out of which 1,450 patients have been discharged. Besides this, 119 patients have passed away and 1,004 patients are currently undergoing treatment (as active cases).

However, until May 26, 2020, Mira Bhayandar has 541 patients who tested positive for COVID-19, out of which 180 were active and 343 patients were discharged. A total of 18 deaths were registered until then.

On June 11, 2020, Mira Bhayandar witnessed the highest single-day jump of 145 cases, which was followed by 139 cases on June 16, 36 cases on June 20 and 128 cases on June 22. The area, after June 9, 2020, has seen an increase of more than 60 cases per day. 

For 13 weeks now the city has witnessed a lockdown. The first five cases were observed on two days - March 27 and March 29. Until June 21, 2020, the tally had increased to 2,259 cases.

Most number of cases are found in the Mira Road area. As of June 24, out of the 2573 patients, 1,247 patients are from Mira road which constitutes to 48.46 per cent of the total patient count. On the other hand, Bhayandar East has 704 patients and Bhayandar West has 622 patients which constitute to 27.36 per cent and 24.17 per cent of the total patient count. 

As of June 24, 2020, a total of 7,031 swab tests were conducted, out of which 2,573 cases tested positive, 4,133 cases have tested negative and 322 test reports are awaited.
