Although there were protests over providing additional land for the metro car shed of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) in Aarey, 7,200 square meter of additional land has been sanctioned by the State Government. Earlier, 27.79 hectare of land was sanctioned for metro line phase three.
This work was hampered due to high voltage wire on the given space for the depot of car shed in Aare Colony for Mumbai Metro 3. The government has approved this place to shift. This land has been given to Aarey Metro Corporation near Mauja Parjapur in Aarey Colony.
Stalin, the President of environmental NGO, Vana Shakti, says the state officials are cheating people. There is a rally on Sunday against he metro car shed.
So, ‘Mumbai is upgrading’ but at nature’s cost.
