In Vasai–Virar, the city in the Konkan division of Maharashtra, patients suffering from the coronavirus has been witnessing an increased recovery rate. In Vasai Virar, 1,600 patients have recovered and gone home in the last 5 days.

Currently, there are 2,971 active cases of the coronavirus in the Vasai Virar area whereas 9,419 people have recovered and returned home. However, 257 people have succumbed to the disease.

At present 66,987 people have been quarantined. So far, more than 71,838 people have been tested for the COVID-19 disease. The Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) has been going to the houses of the people and conducting fever checks on them in a bid to contain the spread of the contagious disease.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra clocked 7,760 fresh cases of the coronavirus on August 4, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 4,57,956 whereas Mumbai reported 709 cases on Tuesday while the number of recoveries amounted to 873.

After the Centre extended the coronavirus-induced lockdown, Maharashtra followed the same easing more restrictions. Under the new guidelines, apart from the current relaxations, malls and market complexes have been allowed to resume operations from August 5 without theatres, food courts, and restaurants from 9 AM to 7 PM. The guidelines have not mentioned anything on reopening religious places which are to remain shut across the state.
