Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made an artificial pond for the Ganesh in Mulund Purve’s Arunoday Nagar, and the same is being opposed by the citizens here. Localities say that there are two ponds already which are being used in the area for the immersion of idols during Ganapati Visarjan and they are in very good condition.

So if two ponds are available, why is there a need for the third pond?

It has been reported that BMC had spent millions recently to build an open gym at the area. And now, the corporation is again planning to spend INR 2.5 lakhs for the artificial pond at this place, which as per the common masses is money laundering.

Talking about the same, BJP's local corporator, Rajni Keni, said that this decision has been taken by BMC. Arunoday Mitra Mandal Chairman Ajit Ghagre added that he is not against the construction of the artificial pond, but it should be in the right place. Further, he also mentioned that there is an empty place for BMC near Neelam Nagar, where the pond could be made.
