In its drive to catch hold of drunk drivers, the Mumbai Traffic police booked 73 motorists on Holi, which was celebrated on Tuesday, March 7.
Apart from this, more than 10,000 bikers were fined for driving without a helmet.
As per an official data released by the city traffic police: “On Tuesday (Holi) Mumbai Traffic Police penalised 10,215 two-wheeler riders for not wearing a helmet and 73 motorists for drunk driving in which 65 bikers and 8 four-wheelers were caught for driving under the influence of alcohol.”
In addition to this, the city traffic police fined 746 bikers for triple riding in Mumbai. Moreover, to curb rash driving and racing motorist during the late night hours, the Bandra traffic division took action against 51 motor cyclists for helmet, 18 for triple seat and 8 motorcyclists have been booked for rash and negligent driving last night, March 7.
"On the occasion of Holi and Shab-e-Barat, we conducted a special drive and penalised people who were found violating traffic norms," the official further noted.
