Mumbai: BMC razes unauthorised structures at Hotel Eastern Plaza in Chembur

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished the unauthorised construction at Hotel Eastern Plaza in Vatsalabai Naik Nagar, Chembur. The M-West Division Office of the Municipal Corporation took this decisive action under strict security provided by the Nehru Nagar Police Station.

An unauthorised lodge of more than 14 feet height was constructed using AC sheet roof, BM wall, slabs without any permission from any authority in Vatsalabai Naik Nagar near Eastern Expressway. The BMC officials had issued a notice to the hotel owner after inspecting the fire fighting measures in the hotel. Accordingly, the civic body took action against the unauthorised construction. About 80 percent of the upper floors of the Hotel Eastern Plaza building were demolished. The rest of the operation, halted by evening darkness, was completed on November 30.


This action was taken by the designated officers under the guidance of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner (Circle 5) Harshad Kale and Assistant Commissioner ('M' West Division) Vishwas Mote. This operation was carried out with the help of 30 manpower and other necessary resources along with the workers and officers of 'M' West Division. This action was taken under the supervision of police officers and employees of Nehru Nagar Police Station.
