The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to construct 14 air-conditioned toilets for the convenience of tourists visiting tourist places like Lion Gate, Vidhana Bhavan premises, Fashion Street, Banganga, Girgaon Dishkar Gallery. Tenders have been invited for three of the toilets. These toilets will be air-conditioned and have all the necessary facilities. 14 places have been selected in the city area for constructing toilets. For this, funds will be provided by the District Planning Committee (DPDC) and INR 35 crore will be spent.
Tourists from all over the country come to visit the tourist places in Mumbai city. However, tourists, especially women, have to face inconvenience due to the lack of good condition toilets at those tourist spots. The guardian minister of Mumbai city Deepak Kesarkar had suggested building toilets at tourist spots. Accordingly, the municipal administration has now decided to create air-conditioned toilets with facilities at the tourist spots.
Out of 14 locations in Mumbai, these toilets will be constructed at five locations in South Mumbai, 2 locations in Grant Road area, 3 locations in Worli Prabhadevi, 2 locations in Mahim Dharavi and one location each in Byculla and Sion areas.
