Municipal corporators have demanded that they must also be exempted from toll throughout the state like MPs and MLAs. The toll is waived off for corporators on Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Many Mumbai Municipal Councilors visit states in connection with many projects and works. For this, they are charged on every toll naka, whereas there is no toll for MPs and MLAs. In view of this, Shiv Sena corporator Tukaram Patil presented a proposal in the BMC and demanded that as the lawmakers and MLAs get relief from toll, the corporators should also get relief from it. This proposal has been passed in the BMC auditorium and it has now been sent to the state government.

Shiv Sena MLA Anil Parab has asked the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) to withdraw “illegal toll” being levied on vehicles entering the airport premises. If MIAL didn’t withdraw the toll of Rs 130 per vehicle, it would face Sena-style agitation stated Parab. Parab also objected to the collection of parking fee from vehicles entering the International Airport.

“Not all vehicles coming to the Airport stop there. This (toll) is causing great distress to the people,” said Parab. “If the toll is not withdrawn, the Sena will launch an agitation." MIAL is a joint venture between GVK group and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
