The hunger saviours, Mumbai’s Dabbawalas are known for their services worldwide. However, setting an example for the ‘Swachh Bharat’, they gathered in huge numbers on Monday morning to clean up Girgaon Chowpatty after Ganesh Visarjan. Also, the Dabbawalas are one of the brand ambassadors for Swachh Bharat Mission.
On Monday, the dabbawalas decided to make sure to improve the condition of the Chowpatty and clean the beach accordingly. Every year, the devotees offer their respect to Lord Ganesha but forget how important it is to keep the beaches clean and not throw away the garlands and food offerings anywhere.

The dabbawalas were accompanied by students of Kamlabai Educational & Charitable Trust and they all cleaned up the litter caused due to Ganesh Visarjan.
Meanwhile, the dabbawalas urged the people to immerse idols in artificial ponds and use ‘Nirmalya Kalash’ put up by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to throw the garlands in order to make sure that the water does not get polluted. Not only does this keep the environment clean but helps in maintaining the sanctity of the festival.
