Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has directed that the Mumbai-Dighi and Mumbai-Kashid Ro-Ro services, which will make the journey of Mumbaikars to Konkan comfortable, should be operational by the end of March. Minister Rane gave these instructions during a meeting held at the ministry.
Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Maharashtra Maritime Board Chief Executive Officer P. Pradeep and other concerned officials were present in the meeting. While giving instructions to expedite the construction work of jetties at both Dighi and Kashid, Minister Rane said that Ro-Ro services would be an excellent option to go from Mumbai to Konkan.
This service will save time. Therefore, the work of this scheme should be expedited. While the work of the jetty is going on, proposals for other permits should be sent and approval should be obtained. All these works should be completed by the end of March. Meanwhile, a meeting was held regarding the diesel refund to be given to fishing boats in the presence of MLA Mahesh Baldi.
Minister Rane said that no eligible fishing boat will be denied diesel refund. Also, fishing organizations should make their boats available to the officials of the Fisheries Department for inspection. Minister Rane also directed that a satisfactory decision be taken in this regard for the fishermen.
