Until now, fire department personnel and officers were given cloth and sewing charges to sew their own uniforms which were done after the dispute. But now, firefighters will receive stitched uniforms and will be the same for the next two years.

Three years without uniforms

In 2009-10, the big scam was unearthed related to uniforms after which the former Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) commissioner declared that the firefighters and the officials will get cloth and sewing allowance. Becuase of this, firefighters and the officials did not receive ready-made uniforms for three years.

In 2014-15, firefighters and officials were given Raymond's cloth and sewing charges. But in 2015-16, officials only received cloth. And now, sewing allowance will be credited.

How much was sewing allowance?

The stitching allowance ranges from ₹2541 to ₹5753. The proposal of giving sewing allowance to 2313 personnel and officers working in the fire brigade has been forwarded to the standing committee's approval.

After receiving approval of the Standing Committee, ₹64 lakh will be credit in the bank account of firefighters and officials.
