As the ban on the use of plastic and thermocol imposed by Maharashtra government goes to the next step, the retailers across Mumbai have protested against the same. On the directions given by the state government, from June 23, the ban on the use of plastic will be strictly implemented and if anyone is caught using the same, they will be prosecuted.

However, the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association (FRTWA) on Wednesday opposed this decision and organised a meeting where many organisations participated. Plastic is mainly used for packing purposes of the products manufactured and if the ban comes into strict implementation, they will face immense problems with their products.
