According to the latest reports, the traffic on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) plying between Chheda Nagar and Thane and vice-versa can now use the flyover which is over the junction where the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) merges with the EEH from Sunday, May 22 morning.

Based on accounts, the JVLR was slated to remain closed for 12 days between May 13 and 24. However, the repair work was completed earlier than anticipated. Owing to this, in a press release, the MSRDC elaborated on how it decided to open the flyover sooner

It has been reported that the repair work was finished on Saturday, May 21. Because of the repair work, traffic over the last 10 days slowed down. This, during the peak hours, caused immense traffic congestion. Commuters were compelled to take the road instead of the flyover due to the repair work.

The traffic police had recommended alternate routes and approved the traffic block. Narratives suggest that the flyover has been overhauled including its ball bearing and expansion joints. This was a constituent of routine maintenance work.

Additionally, work on replacing ball bearings was done, and the repairing and replacement of the expansion joints needed traffic blocks. This caused traffic closures.
