According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Friday, August 20, Mumbai will experience cloudy sky conditions and moderate rainfall. Meanwhile, the neighbouring Thane district is on yellow alert today with a forecast of heavy rain at isolated places.

This statement comes after overcast conditions and light rainfall continued in the city and suburbs on Thursday, August 19.

According to the weather department's forecast and warning, heavy rain at isolated places is likely on Friday in Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik.

Moreover, Mumbai rain spells are expected to stay on till the weekend. On August 21, the showers may be slightly heavier than the rest of the days whereas, by August 22, the system will weaken and move towards the north, thus, Mumbai rains will reduce. However, light to moderate rain is forecast till Monday in the state.

Mumbai rains had remained on the farther side with the city not receiving enough rains. After a dry spell earlier this month, Mumbai and adjoining parts of the city has been witnessing moderately active rainfall since August 15.

So far amidst the monsoons, the city of Mumbai has seen 2278 mm of rains against the Monsoon average of 2373 mm. Chances are that the city may reach the average in these days.
