Central Railway’s Mobile UTS Sahayak initiative has issued tickets to more than 5.40 lakh passengers at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), generating revenue of Rs 6.89 crore within six months of its launch.
The service was introduced on October 31, 2025, with an initial deployment of three Mobile UTS Sahayaks at the station. Owing to the encouraging response from commuters and increased passenger movement during the summer season, the number of Sahayaks was expanded to eight in January 2026.
According to Central Railway officials, between October 31, 2025, and April 30, 2026, a total of 3.86 lakh tickets were issued, benefiting over 5.40 lakh passengers. During this period, the initiative earned revenue amounting to Rs 6.89 crore.
In April 2026 alone, the Mobile UTS Sahayaks issued 1.25 lakh tickets to nearly 1.72 lakh commuters, contributing Rs 2.22 crore in revenue.
Central Railway stated that the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to improve passenger-friendly services at CSMT, one of Mumbai’s busiest railway stations. Officials added that the system has received a positive response from daily commuters and may be expanded further in the coming months.
The Mobile UTS Sahayaks are equipped with smartphones and portable ticket-printing devices, enabling them to issue tickets directly to passengers across station concourses, waiting areas, and other railway premises. The service accepts both cash and digital payments and can also function from ticket counters whenever required.
Railway officials noted that the initiative has helped reduce long queues at ticket counters, especially during peak travel hours, thereby improving passenger convenience. It has also played a role in reducing instances of ticketless travel caused by overcrowding and delays at booking windows.
