On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray addressed the state during which he informed the citizens that local trains in Mumbai will resume for the general public from August 15. Only those who are fully vaccinated and have completed 14 days, post the second dose will be permitted to use the service.

To make use of travel passes, citizens can do so either from suburban railway stations or ward offices. Additionally, those who have smartphones can download the passes through means of a mobile application.

According to reports, he also said that those passengers who don’t have smartphones can utilize photo passes from the civic ward offices. These passes will be equipped with QR codes enabling the administration to check the genuineness. He also urged that passes shouldn’t be bought illegally and requested people to be fully vaccinated to travel.

In the midst of the second wave of the coronavirus, local trains in Mumbai were shut to the general public in April this year.

Some reports also state that the Chief Minister elucidated that from Monday, the task force will be functional and will study the situation to eventually resume malls and restaurants. Accounts state that the said procedure will take around a week.
