Removal of the loose red soil filled in Dadar's Shivaji Park grounds will soon begin. The soil removal technique was tested on Thursday, March 7. After removing loose red soil from the field, it will help to reduce the problem of flying dust. Meanwhile, the local residents have warned that they will boycott the Lok Sabha elections if the soil is not removed from the ground, and now this work has accelerated.


Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan situated in Dadar West is famous for various sports. Children come to play various games in this ground with an area of 98 thousand square metres. The ground has eight pitches of various clubs. These clubs maintain and clean their premises. But apart from that, the grounds are neglected. Also, after various political and religious meetings and events, this ground is in a state of disrepair.


The residents have approached the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) many times to solve the problem of dust. But in the last few years, this problem has not been solved. Therefore, the resident association had sent a letter to the Pollution Control Board in the month of April and requested them to look into this. But there was no solution. After that, the resident association had also protested on the ground. The division office of the BMC planted green grass two years ago. Also many experiments were done on rainwater harvesting system, frost irrigation.

Work started in ten days
A dust extractor will be used to remove the loose red soil from the ground. Soon, after obtaining proper permission, the work of removing the soil from the field will be done in a phased manner. A committee has been appointed to remove the compacted soil and after the decision of this committee, the work will be taken up. Assistant Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ambhi said that the removal of topsoil will be started in the next eight to ten days to avoid any disturbance during summer. Prakash Belwade of Shivaji Park Residents' Association said that the residents are suffering from respiratory and skin diseases due to dust in the ground. So it is necessary to remove this soil.
