Mumbai Marathon: 130 individual donors raised over ₹1.5 lakh each

During the pandemic, the community was still able to raise ₹5.71 crore for 157 NGOs

This year Mumbai Marathon was able to raise over ₹30 crore for 250 non-governmental organisations that work on various social causes. This was made possible by 11,000 participants of the Dream Run, of which 8,000 represented corporate groups that donated to this corpus.


In 2004, in its inaugural edition, Mumbai Marathon helped 12 NGOs raise ₹1.4 crore which plummeted to a whopping ₹46 crore in 2020. Though the marathon was not organised during the pandemic, the community was still able to raise ₹5.71 crore for 157 NGOs that were dedicatedly working for Covid relief activities in the interim.

130 donors raised over ₹1.5 lakh each, among the various individual donors. Shyam Jasani from Jasani Group earned the title of Change Legends who alone raised ₹1 crore. He is one of the only 15 people who have earned the title in the history of the Mumbai Marathon. In 2019, his father Abhay Jasani also earned the title.
