Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj mandai or the Manish Market which is near Crawford Market has recently been in the news as the sellers were asked to shift to Airoli or Mankhurd due to the dilapidated condition of the building.

The sellers have had a mixed reaction on this as some hail from Navi Mumbai and are happy to be relocated near their residence. However, many were not happy with the move as they will lose their loyal customer base in South Mumbai. Recently, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray had met the fisherfolks and assured them that he’ll talk about it in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

However, even after BMC has already sent the notice, Mumbai mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar recently said that they will not be shifted to Airoli or Mankhurd but will be re-located to the nearby area of Crawford Market.
