A free feeder bus service will operate at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) every Friday throughout July to strengthen last-mile connectivity for Aqua Line (Metro Line 3) passengers and encourage greater use of public transport.

The initiative was announced on the occasion of Public Transport Day through a joint effort by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), WRI India, and BKC Moves.

Free Feeder Service Across BKC

Private bus operator Cityflo will run the complimentary feeder buses for commuters travelling from the BKC Metro station to key commercial and office destinations within BKC.

The buses will operate from Entry/Exit points A1 and A2 of the BKC Metro station and connect major locations, including:

  • Jio World Plaza
  • One BKC
  • MMRDA (Jetvan)
  • Kalanagar
  • BDB Gate No. 7
  • ICICI Bus Stop
  • The Capital
  • Crescenzo

The circular service is designed to make onward travel within BKC more convenient for metro passengers commuting to work or other destinations.

Metro Line 3 Strengthens BKC Connectivity

BKC is one of Mumbai's largest commercial districts, attracting thousands of commuters every day. Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) has significantly improved connectivity by linking BKC directly with Aarey-JVLR in the north and Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai.

The corridor also offers an interchange with Metro Line 1 at Marol Naka and provides access to several suburban railway stations, including CSMT, Churchgate, Dadar, Grant Road, Mahalaxmi, and Mahim. In addition, passengers can access Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's Terminal 2 through a dedicated pedestrian walkway connected to the metro network.

According to the organisers, the Public Transport Day initiative aims to strengthen Mumbai's integrated transport system by improving first- and last-mile connectivity, reducing traffic congestion, and lowering carbon emissions through increased public transport usage.

Cityflo Launches Corporate Pass Scheme

Alongside the feeder bus initiative, Cityflo has introduced a Corporate Pass scheme for companies operating in BKC.

Under the scheme, organisations can provide employees with access to Cityflo's existing bus network instead of operating dedicated staff buses. The service follows a pay-per-use model, with companies receiving discounted corporate passes and being billed only for employees' actual travel.

Employees can reserve seats through the Cityflo mobile app, while companies have the flexibility to decide the level of fare subsidy they wish to provide and modify it as required.

According to Cityflo, the model eliminates the costs associated with running dedicated employee buses or maintaining minimum occupancy levels. Employees also benefit from air-conditioned buses, reserved seating, scheduled departures, and live vehicle tracking.

The company claims the Corporate Pass scheme can reduce employee transportation costs for businesses by up to 30%, while employees who currently rely on cabs could save up to 60% on commuting expenses.

Sankalp Kelshikar, Co-founder and Head of the Corporate Division at Cityflo, said, "We launched the Corporate Pass scheme to encourage companies in BKC to promote public transport among their employees. Our services already cover most residential areas connected to BKC, and we can introduce new routes within a few days based on demand."
