Residents of the redeveloped Naigaon BDD Chawl staged a protest on Tuesday, alleging severe water shortages in their rehabilitation buildings. They claimed that water is supplied for only a brief period each day, disrupting daily life and forcing many families to arrange water from alternative sources.

The residents accused MHADA of handing over possession of the flats without ensuring an adequate and reliable water supply. They demanded immediate intervention to resolve the issue, saying the shortage has persisted despite repeated complaints.

In response, MHADA said the problem has been aggravated by some residents allegedly installing unauthorised water pumps and storage tanks, affecting equitable distribution. The authority stated that corrective measures are being taken to restore normal water supply.
