With the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announcing that the state government is extending the restrictions for another two weeks, the state government also announced district-wise restrictions and containment strategy.

Meanwhile, with regards to all shops across Mumbai, the state government informed that all essential shops that are currently allowed to operate between 7 AM and 11 AM may be allowed to operate between 7 AM and 2 PM.

However, in the case of all non-essential shops (standalone shops inside shopping centres malls), the decision regarding the allowing of the opening of such shops along with the time limit for the functioning of the same may be announced shortly by respective Disaster Management authorities. These, if allowed to open, however, shall not be opened beyond that allowed for essential shops and shall not be allowed to open on weekends.

Moreover, delivery of Non-Essential items along with essential items through E-Commerce may be allowed in such districts.

On the other hand, while addressing the state, CM Thackeray stated that even though the state is recording better figures with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, a third wave of the coronavirus is expected to hit the country in the coming months. Speaking about the same, he urged the citizens to remain vigilant further adding, "Even though we fought the second wave of the coronavirus well, the challenge remains. To prevent the third wave, you should set a good example for the country by resolving for a COVID-free village,”
