The city Police has prohibited the flying activities of drones, para gliders, all types of balloons, kites and remote control microlight aircraft in the Sahar police jurisdiction. It will remain in effect till May 25.

Mumbai Police on Tuesday, May 16, issued a special preventive order for the city in view of the third G20 meeting. 

The city Police has prohibited the flying activities of drones, para gliders, all types of balloons, kites and remote control microlight aircraft in the Sahar police jurisdiction. It will remain in effect till May 25.

This development came as large number of VIPs and officers are attending the summit

Releasing an official order, the police stated, whereas report has been received that due to the situation prevailing in the areas under control of the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, it is apprehended that during the third G20 meeting on 16/05/2023 25/05/2023, terrorist/anti-social elements may attack using drone, para gliders, remote control microlight aircraft and there is every likelihood breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility and also there is grave danger to the human life, health, safety and injury to public property.

This decision will also apply to Vakola Police Station, BKC Police Station, Bandra Police Station, Colaba Police Station and Azad Maidan Police Station for the safety and security purposes.

The third meeting of the G20 Energy Transition Working Group began on Monday. It has been feared that drones and similar aircraft may be used by terrorists or anti-social elements to launch attacks as a large number of VIPs are expected to attend the G20 meeting.

People violating this order will be prosecuted under section 188 of IPC. A warning notice prohibiting the flight of drones within a radius of 2 km from the site should be prominently displayed along the perimeter wall of the sensitive site/important installations.
