With the festivities of Ganeshotsav set to commence in September, huge crowds are expected in public circles and other places in Mumbai. In view of the situation, the Mumbai Police has planned to strictly enforce rules with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to sources, Mumbai Police will take action against people walking on the streets without masks from next Thursday. Joint Commissioner Law and Order Vishwas Nangre Patil on Wednesday instructed all police stations to do the same.
Moreover, a total of 13 special police squads will be deployed in Mumbai on the occasion of Ganeshotsav. Each squad will consist of one senior police inspector, 1 API, 2 PSI and 11 constables. There are 13 zones in Mumbai and one squad will be deployed in each zone.
A few days ago, a meeting of office-bearers of Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Ganeshotsav Mandals were held. In this, the rules for Ganeshotsav were fixed.
