Parts of Maharashtra, over the last few days, have been witnessing rainfall. However, the 'October heat' has hit hard in most cities across Maharashtra, and the citizens are only hoping for the weather to change. Reports released by the weather department mentioned that the state will witness heavy to very heavy rains, on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

Experts stated that some parts of Marathwada and Central Maharashtra can experience heavy rainfall, as an extremely low-pressure belt has formed in the west-central part of the Bay of Bengal, and is moving forward at a speed of 17 kilometres per hour.

Observing this change, IMD has issued an alert for torrential to very heavy rains are likely in South Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada, for Wednesday and Thursday, October 14 and 15, 2020. Officials have warned heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane and Konkan on Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16, 2020. The return rains have started across the state and will affect Mumbai. Currently, the weather in the city gets cloudy and there is a possibility of torrential rains.

Skymet in its weather blog reported, "Rain activities will increase over most parts of Marathwada, adjoining part of Vidarbha, and as well as many parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Rains will start subsiding over Marathwada by the evening of October 14 as the low-pressure area will move further westwards toward Konkan and Goa. On October 14 and 15 many parts of Konkan and Goa including Mumbai may get intense rain and shower activities.

These rains are considered as unseasonal rains, particularly for Telangana and Maharashtra. However, Telangana sometimes receives moderate to heavy showers in the wake of depression of cyclones forming over the Bay of Bengal but for Maharashtra, these rains are rare and unseasonal."
