Mumbai witnessed heavy spells of rain on Wednesday, September 4 which resulted in waterlogging in many areas of the city. The incessant rains claimed three lives including two Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staffers who were on duty.

The incident took place at Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon in the Western suburbs of Mumbai where the deceased who have been identified as Vijayendra Sardar Bagdi (36) and Jagdish Parmar (54) drowned in the water while they were on duty. They were rushed to a hospital where they were declared dead. Commenting on the incident, the civic authorities have stated that an investigation is underway.

Another reported casualty was of Mohammed Shahrukh Rafique Shaikh (24) who drowned in the Mithi River as it was overflowing in Bandra Kurla Complex's (BKC) Bharat Nagar. A case of accidental death has been registered in the BKC Police Station.
