Smart electricity meters have been installed in many houses in Mumbai. However, since the installation of these meters, the customers have been complaining about the increased electricity bills. As a result, consumer resentment has spread. Therefore, the BJP office bearers have sent a letter to the General Manager of the BEST initiative, Anil Diggikar, demanding that the decision to install electricity meters should be reconsidered.
Adani has installed electricity smart meters in most of the houses in Mumbai. However, complaints are being made to the electricity supply department of the BEST initiative that the electricity meter is causing increased bills. Last week Shiv Sena leader (Uddhav Thackeray) MLA Anil Parab visited the Adani office in Andheri as these complaints were increasing continuously. He demanded from the officials of Adani company that they should be removed as the bill was increasing.
Ever since it was announced to install electric smart meters in Mumbai, there was opposition to this decision. Political parties also took an opposing stand in this regard. BJP officials are also seriously considering the problem of increased bills due to electricity smart meters.
The letter also mentions that the BEST administration should verify the complaints received, and also take appropriate action on the same, and also provide detailed information about the action.
