Mumbai: CR to install pre-fabricated cine dome at 4 stations

The Central Railway has unveiled an ambitious plan for installation and operation of prefabricated cine domes at four of its stations including Dombivali, Khopoli, Juchandra and Igatpuri. This unprecedented initiative falls under the non-fare revenue earning model and is scheduled for an impressive period of 10 years.

The Cine Dome tender which is scheduled to open on November 23 will reposition railway stations as multifunctional hubs. The project underlines Central Railway's active efforts to modernise its railway infrastructure and align it with the growing expectations of consumers.

What are these Cine Domes?

According to Central Railway, under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) earning model, the proposed cine domes will function as full-fledged cinemas, screening a range of new movie releases, documentaries and documentaries. These will work like small cinemas.

How will the whole work be?

The licensee will submit a detailed layout plan/design for approval within 30 days of the Letter of Award (LOA), with Railways retaining the right to advise changes as required.
