Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha announced on Sunday that the new international standard swimming pool built by Mumbai Municipal Corporation in Gilbert Hill area of Andheri West will be named as 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Swimming Pool'.
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the swimming pool constructed in the Gilbert Hill area of Andheri. Lodha also said that this swimming pool will be developed as a tourist attraction in Mumbai. He suggested to the administration that a gymnasium should also be constructed in the open space of the swimming pool, and women should be given more priority in the membership registration of the swimming pool. The work of swimming pools at Kondivita in Worli, Vikhroli and Andheri will be completed in the next month. After that, within a few days, citizens will be provided the facility to register members at that place, informed Deputy Commissioner Kishore Gandhi.
A total of nine swimming pools have been constructed in the city and suburbs by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The water tank at Gilbert Hill has been added to it. The membership registration process of the swimming pool in Andheri has started from Sunday and 2750 members will be able to register their membership online. Generally, an annual fee of INR 8,410 is charged for membership registration and INR 4,370 for students under 15 years, senior citizens and disabled persons. Women will be able to take a 25 percent discount i.e. INR 6,390 rupees for the membership of the lake.
Citizens can register as a member on the website https://swimmingpool.mcgm.gov.in/. After completing the registration process, this swimming pool will be opened for the members from October 1.
