According to the latest reports, the Mumbai Traffic Police could soon commence seizing motorist's vehicles caught for wrong side driving. A warning has reportedly been issued following the number of FIRs in regards to wrong side driving did not fall since the anti-wrong side driving campaign was commenced by the police earlier in March. 

Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey had asked officials to undertake actions against motorists for wrong-side driving and to remove abandoned vehicles from roads. This was after receiving many complaints pertaining to the same. 

Based on accounts, till March 31, nearly 2,649 FIRs were registered against motorists for wrong side driving. Police officials have been quoted in narratives elaborating on how on an average daily, they register nearly 200 FIRs. Following this, Pandey had tweeted that if the numbers do not fall, the police will be asked to seize the vehicles of the driver. 

The police book a motorist under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 279 and 336 which is rash driving and endangering life or personal safety of others, respectively, for wrong side driving. 

Following his appointment as the Mumbai Police Commissioner, Pandey had asked officials to take action against traffic norm violators, hawkers and builders who create noise pollution as well as asked them to remove abandoned vehicles from the roads.
