The efforts being made to promote organ donation is getting success and recently in the month of March three organ donation surgeries were done in two days. Then on March 22, the eighth organ donation of this year was successfully conducted in Mumbai. Liver and kidney donation from a brain dead person saved both lives.


A 37-year-old woman undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospitals in Mumbai died of brain death on March 22. On this occasion, doctors, hospital administration and organ donation coordination committee informed the relatives of the brain dead woman about organ donation. Relatives of this woman showed readiness to donate organs. After that, the doctor promptly completed the procedure and completed the organ donation process. Since the brain dead woman's liver and kidneys were in good condition, it was decided to donate them. This organ donation gave life to two patients. All this procedure was done according to the guidelines of the Departmental Transplant Coordinating Committee. Meanwhile, the family members of the brain-dead woman appealed to citizens to come forward for organ donation.


A recent organ donation in Mumbai on March 8 and 9 in three different hospitals resulted in 13 organ transplants in just 48 hours. A new record was registered due to this organ donation. On March 8 organ donation took place at Powai’s L. H. Hiranandani Hospital, on March 9 at Sir H N Reliance Foundation and Umrao Wockhardt Hospital at Mira Road.
