A total of 1,39,382 crore litre water has been accumulated in seven lakes including Upper Sagar, Modaksagar, Bhasta, Vihar, Tansa, Tulsi, Madhya Vaitarna. Water to Mumbaikars can be supplied for another 366 days from the lakes.

However, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials are worried and say that in order to replenish the water used until now, the rains during September end are necessary.

Every day, 380 crore litre water is extracted from these lakes. Of the 380 litre water, Bhiwandi and Thane Municipal Corporation receive 15 litres. From October 31 to next year, the lakes should have 1,44,736 crore litres of water. This year, due to sufficient rainfall, the water in the lakes have accumulated up to 1,39,382 crore litres.
