A ride malfunction in Wonders Park, Nerul, Navi Mumbai has left six individuals injured that included women and children.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) commissioner, Rajesh Narvekar, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the cause and take appropriate action.

The accident took place on Saturday night on the Sky Swinger attraction. It is a popular rotating merry-go-round like ride. At approximately 8:30 pm, eyewitnesses revealed that the ride failed to close and stop as the riders descended. This resulted in their feet striking the iron railing below. The impact caused injuries to the riders. The injured individuals were quickly taken to Apollo Hospital for emergency treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were not severe, and they have since been discharged.

The park is managed by Ashwini Construction and Infrastructure. They also provide operators for each ride and conduct routine inspections to ensure safety. Narvekar expressed regret over the accident. He acknowledged that all seven rides had been operating smoothly since the park's opening.

Wonders Park showcases replica of the seven wonders of the world and features 7 rides. The NMMC undertook the renovation of Wonders Park while it was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had undergone a major INR 28 crore renovation and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shinde on May 30.

It opened its doors to the public on June 1, introducing seven new rides to the park's attractions. The people had urged that the Park be open for at least 15 days before it becomes closed for the rainy season on June 15 onward, according to officials.
