The newly-inaugurated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), Adani Airport Holdings Limited’s greenfield international gateway, on Friday, February 20, digitally joined the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s nationwide DigiYatra rollout alongside five other airports across the country.
The inauguration was conducted remotely, with the proceedings streamed live on a large screen inside the terminal for visiting passengers. To mark the occasion, three passengers ceremonially used the DigiYatra e-gates and performed a ribbon-cutting at the biometric entry points.
DigiYatra leverages facial recognition technology to enable contactless and paperless passenger processing at airport checkpoints, reducing wait times while incorporating robust data privacy and security safeguards.
NMIA is part of the Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) portfolio, India’s largest private airport operator, which manages eight airports across India, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Moreover, on the same day, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, inaugurated the Udaan Yatri Café at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai. Following the e-inauguration by the minister, CSMIA now joins the national initiative geared to make passenger amenities more inclusive across airports in India.
Located at Terminal 2 (T2), in the check-in area (between gate 1 and 2 at Departures), the Udaan Yatri Café offers passengers refreshments such as tea, coffee, bottled water, snacks and desserts, all priced between ₹10 and ₹20. The Udan Yatri Café aims to provide quality food at accessible prices, making airport dining more affordable for passengers.
While Mumbai Airport features multiple food outlets and global dining options, this addition strengthens its F&B portfolio by bringing in affordable dining options for passengers.
