The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued a public notice directing residents, property owners, tenants and commercial occupants of 34 buildings classified as Category C-1 (Extremely Dangerous) to vacate the premises immediately due to the risk of structural collapse.
The notice has been issued in accordance with the Maharashtra Government's Urban Development Department circular dated November 5, 2015, under which the identified residential and commercial buildings have been declared unsafe for occupation. Written notices have already been served to the concerned owners and occupants, instructing them to stop using the buildings and demolish the unsafe structures without delay.
The civic body has warned that electricity and water connections to Category C-1 buildings will be disconnected. It stated that continued occupation of these buildings could result in serious accidents, causing loss of life and property. If residents continue to occupy the structures despite repeated warnings, the NMMC said the responsibility for any damage caused by a building collapse will rest solely with the owners and occupants, and not with the municipal corporation.
For the financial year 2026-27, the NMMC has identified 34 Category C-1 buildings located across Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Airoli and Digha. The list includes residential housing societies, apartment complexes, commercial buildings, market structures and cooperative housing societies that have been declared structurally unsafe.List of Category C-1 Buildings

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has appealed to all occupants to vacate the identified buildings immediately and cooperate with the authorities to prevent any loss of life or property.
