NMMC gives 15 days extension for Abhay Yojana

Citizens can make the payment by cash or cheque at civic headquarters and eight ward offices. Apart from that, the civic body has mobile app 'NMMC e-connect'. However, those who have not paid their property tax can make full payment with just 25% rebate.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to extend the deadline of Abhay Yojana, an initiative launched for waiving off the penalty for delayed payment of property tax, till March 1.

Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar said that the citizens had requested an extension of deadline of Abhay Yojana so that more people can avail the benefits. Hence, the civic body has given a 15-day extension.

Earlier, the civic body had given two months period to take benefits of the scheme which will begin on December 15 and end on February 15 with a rebate of up to 75 per cent on the penalty amount of arrears of property tax. However, those who have not paid their property tax can make full payment with just 25 per cent penalty.

Under Abhay Yojana, INR 97.88 crores has been deposited till February 15. Meanwhile, the citizens have got a discount of more than INR 52.30 crores.

Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar has appealed to the citizens to avail the benefits of Abhay Yojana and contribute to the development of the city by visiting the website of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

In order to avail of the scheme, citizens can get applications at the corporation's website www.nmmc.gov.in and eight ward offices along with the approved Payment Centers.
