The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a Deep Cleaning Drive across all eight divisions, prioritizing both environmental conservation and cleanliness. The drive focuses on thoroughly cleaning the city’s main roads, adjoining footpaths, and road dividers, especially in areas with heavy vehicular traffic. The initiative aims to remove accumulated soil and waste to reduce air pollution.

Guided by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, the drive began on December 30 and has already shown positive results. A detailed schedule has been created to systematically clean specific roads and areas until January 13, including public holidays. This organized effort ensures that all target areas are addressed effectively.

On January 9, roads from Konkan Bhavan to Highway Bridge and the Tatanagar area in the Belapur Division were cleaned under the supervision of six Commissioners, Division Officer Dr. Amol Palve, and Sanitation Officer Naresh Andher, supported by employees and sanitation workers. Similarly, in the Koparkhairane Division, the main roads in Koparkhairane village, Gavthan, and Extended Gavthan were cleaned under the leadership of Commissioner Sunil Kathole and Sanitation Officer Raju Singh Chavan.

Citizens have also participated spontaneously in some campaigns, contributing to the success of the drive. Moving forward, the NMMC plans to implement the Deep Cleaning Drive across various locations to improve air quality by reducing dust in the atmosphere.
