As per the provisions of Section 458 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949, and the regulations laid out under the by-laws governing the operation of slaughterhouses in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) limits, no individual or organisation is permitted to operate a private slaughterhouse or sell meat for human consumption within municipal limits without prior approval from the NMMC.
In accordance with the Government Resolution No. Sankirna-2025/PR No. 19/M-6 dated April 23, 2025, issued by the Revenue and Forest Department, has been made mandatory to submit a Building Completion Certificate / Occupancy Certificate before granting a business license. This measure has been implemented to curb and prevent unauthorised constructions.
All meat vendors are therefore requested to apply online for a meat sale license through the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s official website www.nmmc.gov.in. Please visit the ‘Citizen Services’ section, under the Health Department, and complete your application by uploading the Building Completion / Occupancy Certificate along with other required documents.
Vendors currently operating without a valid meat sale license are urged to immediately cease operations.
