Matunga- New Era Mill situated at the Senapati Bapat marg, Matunga owes Rs. 9 crores to BMC out of which they have paid Rs. 2 crores.
For many years, mill management had not paid their dues to BMC. There are 11 godowns which also includes Amitabh Bacchan’s and Shilpa Shetty’s shops. Despite the pending dues, New Era Mill management gave the licences to the new shops.
MNS corporator Manish Chavhan said that he has written to the concerned BMC authorities regarding the recovery of pending dues.
G/ North ward’s assistant commissioner Ramakant Biradar told Mumbai Live that the mill has paid Rs. 2 crores and will hold a discussion with officers concerned and will recover the remaining amount at the earliest.
