Experts from the field of medicine and healthcare have warned the state about the third coronavirus (COVID-19) wave and with an aim to tackle for the same efficiently, the state government has asked all the civic bodies in Maharashtra to make necessary arrangements before the cases rise in the state. Acting upon the same, officials from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) recently decided to implement a new idea to manage the spread of COVID-19 before the third wave. As per reports, this will not only contain the spread, but also assist the teams in offering treatment on time.

The health department at the NMMC recently started monitoring every housing society under the new plan, whereby even if one patient in a housing society is infected with the coronavirus, all the occupants of that building are being tested for the infection. Focusing on the targeted testing method, officials have informed that it would possible to avoid the possibility of a COVID patients coming in contact with each other.

Meanwhile, the citizens from Navi Mumbai have also been giving positive response to this. Many have informed that this will help the locality from the COVID-19 spread in the third wave. Furthermore, the average number of patients in Navi Mumbai has reduced  to 60. 

Records released by the civic body shows that in the last 15 days, over one lakh coronavirus tests have been conducted in Navi Mumbai and this is considered to be a new record so far. Although this increases the number of tests, the plan makes it possible to gain control over the spread of COVID-19. Moreover, if a patient is infected with COVID-19, it may take a few days for them to notice the symptoms, during which, the patient might have stepped out of the house and others who in contact would be infected with the coronavirus.

Understanding this concern, NMMC has planned to conduct the test immediately before the symptoms appear. This alerts the residents in the premises and also ensures they do not come in contact with each other keeping the safety aspect in mind.
