The Maharashtra government has no plans for proclaiming the mask free status presently. State Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope, stated that wearing masks in public places is mandatory considering the condition abroad, reports stated. He was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the state government has already eased many COVID-19 restrictions, however, there is no decision yet on mask free in the state. 

According to accounts, Tope further elaborated on how the Maharashtra government is undertaking all efforts to increase the speed of vaccination to ensure that all those eligible are vaccinated against coronavirus.

Based on narratives, the health minister also spoke about the highly debated decision by the state government to permit only vaccinated individuals to ply the Mumbai local train services. This, he says is being done to augment the vaccination rate. 

It has been reported that Tope elucidated how the decision to relax the current vaccination regulations in malls, buses and railways will be undertaken to post a discussion with the state COVID-19 task force. 

Speculations have been made the Maharashtra government could ease the majority of COVID-19 restrictions from April 1, amid the fall in coronavirus cases reported across the state. An official notification on the same is anticipated in a day or two.
