According to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, the noise level during Diwali has increased by 1.5 per cent during the day and 2.77 per cent at night.

In contrast to the last year, this year's Diwali saw an increase in noise levels across Maharashtra, highlighted reports. According to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, the noise level during Diwali has increased by 1.5 per cent during the day and 2.77 per cent at night. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) measured noise pollution caused by firecrackers at 152 places across the state.

Based on accounts, Vasai-Virar recorded the highest daily noise level of 10.55 per cent. This year, the sound level was found to be 71.66 decibels. Additionally, Mira Bhayander recorded the second-highest increase in noise level at 9.90 per cent. The noise level was 71.32 decibels this year.

On the other hand, south Mumbai is ranked third. The noise level rose from 70.09 decibels to 76.79 decibels, it rose by 9.56 per cent. South Mumbai ranks first when it comes to night noise levels. The night noise level here has increased by 19.33 per cent as compared to last year. The noise level rose from 59.04 decibels to 70.45 decibels.

The second-highest increase in night noise level was in Bhivandi-Nizampur, while the third-highest increase was in the western suburbs of Mumbai. Bhivandi-Nizampur had a noise level of 63.44 decibels this year. The noise level in the western suburbs was 65.22 decibels this year.
