Mumbai Local News: Now, CR Commuters Can Get Real-Time Train Information For 5 More Years

Central Railway (CR) has announced the expansion of its collaboration with Yatri App, recognising the platform’s consistent efforts in making reliable train information accessible to commuters across the Mumbai Railway network. The partnership, which began 5 years ago, has focused o­n improving access to accurate, real-time train information for Mumbai local train passengers.

This collaboration has been formally supported through a tender awarded for a period of 5 years in April 2021, and in a testament to the strong and effective partnership, it has now been further extended to March 2031.

The Yatri app has also fetched a sizeable  revenue of INR 22.05 lakhs per annum through licence fees for Central Railway.

The Mumbai local railway network is o­ne of the busiest urban rail systems in the world, serving millions of commuters everyday. The partnership between Central Railway and Yatri app ensures that passengers can access accurate and timely information, including live train locations, delay alerts, and platform updates.

Over the course of this partnership, the Yatri app has enabled the use of live train location data fetched through GPS devices installed in local trains, consistently assisting more than 2.5 million passengers every day. This has helped commuters make more informed travel decisions and supported better coordination with other modes of public transport, including city buses and the Mumbai Metro.

The collaboration reflects Central Railway’s commitment to improving passenger information services through technology. By supporting platforms such as the Yatri app, Central railways aims to make real-time and verified travel updates more easily accessible to commuters.
