With more than four months into the coronavirus outbreak in the country, the number of patients affected by COVID-19 has been increasing every day throughout Maharashtra which includes the city of Mumbai.

As of Wednesday, the total number of patients in Mumbai has increased to 1,04,572. With this, the number of patients infected with the coronavirus in the western suburbs of Mumbai has been on a continual rise. The BMC and the police administration have been trying to get people to strictly adhere to the lockdown norms in these areas.

Furthermore, doo-to-door screening and smart helmet screening has been introduced in several places across the city to contain the spread of the contagious disease. However, according to the data released by BMC, among all these areas, Malad has the highest number of coronavirus patients in the western suburbs.

Malad witnesses the maximum number of patients

According to the data released by BMC, till July 21, a total of 6,426 people have succumbed to the coronavirus in Malad. In Dahisar, 2,510 coronavirus patients have been exposed till July 21. The total number of COVID-19 patients in Borivali till July 21 has reached 4,647 whereas the total number of coronavirus patients in Kandivali has reached the number 4,482.

The western suburbs have witnessed a steady rise in the number of patients suffering from the disease. In the past, in view of the situation, BMC had imposed a strict lockdown in these areas. Simultaneously, fever clinics had also been initiated so that screening of people can be done as effectively as possible.

5,877 people have succumbed to the coronavirus disease

On Wednesday, 1,310 fresh cases of the coronavirus infection were reported in Mumbai whereas 58 have people died because of the disease. The total number of infected patients has reached 1,04,572. So far, a total of 75,118 patients have gone home from the hospital after battling COVID-19 while 5,877 people have died due to the coronavirus.
