In the past few weeks, there have been a lot of leopard attack cases against locals being reported in the Aarey Milk Colony. The forest officials are now running out of time to trap or tranquilize the leopard suspected to be behind a series of attacks.

The principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife) had permitted the officials to capture the leopard by Sunday, October 31. The forest officials can apply for an extension of the date. However, they will have to submit a detailed report on why they failed to capture the leopard on the given date in case they are not successful in accomplishing the mission.

While commenting on the same, a forest official said that the last date given by PCCF-Wildlife [Sunil Limaye] to capture the leopard is October 31. Hence, they are taking all possible efforts to capture it. More than 30 forest department officials are working to capture the leopard and have roped in 15 volunteers. They have even set up seven cages.

According to the reports, since August 31, nine residents have been injured by leopard C32. Meanwhile, many others have claimed that a leopard had charged at them. A few weeks ago, leopard awareness posters were put up in Aarey to prevent the human-animal conflict.
