On Thursday, June 10, a 26-year-old died after three houses collapsed in the Lokhandi Chawl area of Dahisar (East) amidst the incessant downpour across the city.

According to BMC officials, the incident was reported at around 6.36 pm and the victim was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital where he was declared dead at around 7.15 pm. Moreover, the deceased was identified as Pradyumna Saroj.

According to the preliminary information, three houses at Lokhandi Chawl in Shivaji Nagar in Dahisar collapsed due to the torrential rains. The incident took place around 7.30 pm. Firefighters arrived at the scene and rescue and relief work reportedly went on full swing. Moreover, firefighters evacuated seven to eight people.

On the other hand, the Maharashtra government earlier on June 10, announced a compensation of INR 5 lakhs for the families of the deceased in the Malad building collapse tragedy. Also, the medical treatment of those injured would be borne by the government. Speaking to the media, on the Malad building collapse incident, Maharashtra Minister Aslam Shaikh informed that the families of the deceased will be given INR 5 lakhs each as compensation.

The development came soon after the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray paid a visit to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Municipal Hospital (Shatabdi Hospital) in Kandivali, where those injured in the building collapse are admitted. Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Mayor Kishori Pednekar, District Collector Milind Borikar were also present.
